Huisinish
Huisinish, on the west coast of Harris, is a remote settlement with only a handful of houses. You’ll find it at the end of a single-track road leaving the A859 that links Harris and Lewis. It’s a 30min drive from the main road to Huisinish.
The route to Huisinish is really beautiful - the road is windy and hilly, and you’re likely to come across plenty sheep and cattle along the way. At one point, you will be passing through the courtyard of Amhuinnsuidhe Castle Estate, a 5* hotel on the banks of Loch Leosavay.
Once you arrive at Huisinish, you will likely be greeted by the few highland cattle that roam freely around the area. If you like seeing hairy coos around Scotland, it’s worth driving to Huisinish even just for this.
There is free parking at Huisinish Gateway, just meters away from a nice beach, as well as toilets. From the beach you can hike over the hills and reach higher ground, for a broad view of the surrounding area. There is a really nice beach with white sand and blue water nestled between Isle of Harris and the uninhabited Isle of Scarp, which looks somewhat similar to Luskentyre.
