Sango Sands
Sango Sands is a stunning beach in the little town of Durness, in the north-western tip of mainland Scotland.
This dreamy Scottish beach has it all: golden sand, light blue water, dramatic rock formations and beautiful green surroundings. Visit on a sunny day and you might think you’re not in Scotland anymore.
A narrow cliff sticks out across the beach, and at its top there is a wooden walkway leading to a platform where you can admire the beautiful scenery all around. Don’t miss this viewpoint.
Sango Sands is one of the easiest stops on the North Coast 500, as it’s right off the main road A838. There is free parking available in several places along the road (post office, visitor centre, etc.).
There is also a really nice campsite on the edge of the cliffside, and, while we haven’t tried it ourselves, my immediate thought was just how amazing its location is. I’d like to wake up there.
