6 Best Viewpoints in Rio
Rio is a vast mesh of of mountains, jungle, city, and beaches, and so it really lends itself to looking great from any angle, and especially from an elevated position. It’s no surprise that Rio has got some really spectacular viewpoints scattered around the city.
Cristo Redentor
The best part is not the monument itself, but the magnificent view over the city from the top. You can see pretty much all of Rio and beyond.
Sugarloaf
This may be the most expensive view in Rio, but it’s certainly one of the very best and not to be missed.
Dois Irmãos
This is a unique viewpoint with a stunning vista. It’s one of those places where the journey is just as interesting as the destination. You need to work hard for this one, but the effort pays off.
Mirante Dona Marta
My favourite viewpoint in Rio. The view is similar to that at Cristo Redentor, but from a lower vantage point. This viewpoint is easy to access, free entry, and open for sunrise.
Vista Chinesa
A similar view to Dois Irmãos. This is an obligatory stop on any drive into the Tijuca National Park. The view is less impressive compared to the others, but has all the key elements (Cristo, Sugarloaf, Ipanema).
The view from Dois Irmãos is much better, but Vista Chinesa is a lot easier to get to.
Hilton Copacabana
The best view of Copacabana Beach can be seen from the rooftop bar and pool area Isabel Lounge, at Hilton Copacabana.
